Ben Sherman Background

Ben Sherman was founded in 1963 by Arthur Bernard Sugarman (1925-1987), who was born in Brighton as a son of a Jewish salesman. The brand became famous for being worn by well-known musicians. They produced the famous Oxford button-down shirt, which became very fashionable for skinheads, mods, and suedeheads.

Ben Sherman has become the fourth largest men’s casual wear brand in the uK, with its main competitors being Ted Baker, Bench, Animal and Timberland.
